The Gestapo Marches On

Police in NYC are now preparing to do random bag checks of people entering and leaving the subway, in clear violation of laws regarding illegal search and seizure. The mayor is treating this as a necessary measure to ensure the safety of New Yorkers. I certainly no one out there is stupid enough to buy that line, but I know that most are. It’s filthy, disgusting, and pisses on every liberty in America. This is just one more way that the America I know has become the Gestapo-friendly group of morons we read about in 20th century history. The War on Terror was cultivated specifically to make measures such as these more friendly to the public. They are winning, people. Walk past a cop that tells you to turn out your bag. Don’t walk away, walk past them. And if they try to stop them, spit in their face and refer to them as the stormtrooper they fucking are. I’m sick of this culture of the spineless, mediated moron.

And by the way, there is no truth to the theory that “we can’t do anything about it”. It’s an excuse, not a reality. If you can’t see it, you’re a failure. Don’t surrender. Become a success and change the way you do things. Don’t comply with reason, not with the cult mentality.

  1. Randomly searching bags on the NYC subway are a necessary precaution. NYC is clearly a target for terrorist activity. Agree or disagree with the policies of this government, of the UK, of the terrorist cell – it does not matter, the danger is no less real.

“The War on Terror was cultivated specifically to make measures such as these more friendly to the public.”

I reject that position. There is no cabal of old white men sitting in a dark room somewhere trying to figure out the best way to get into the bags that people are carrying onto subways. Indeed, there was no conspiracy in the FAA when it was determined that some security measures must be in place to protect our airline transportation system.

Terrorism has been part of the world culture for ages. Now it reaches our shores. Ideological policy maneuvers have everything to do with it, certainly. But is not government’s ultimate role to protect the citizenry. And that duty involves careful weighing of individual liberty against the safety of *all* citizens.

I for one will allow my bag to be checked before I board the next plane or hop on the subway should I ever visit NYC. For me it’s peace of mind.
