Thus far, I’ve observed relatively little interaction between protesters and the public at large. My friends and acquaintances repeatedly ask why I even go downtown. Their mention of the G-20 either regards it as an inconvenience or a vacation. I have heard people use the word “protester” with utter derision. In downtown, people do not so much as bat an eye when the DHS, Port Authority Bomb Squad, and the K-9 unit pull up along with half a dozen unmarked vans, all of which have a blue tape “F” on the quarterpanel. This does not even register on their radar.
